AP Eng Lit/Comp
Instructor: Hardy, Elisabeth
Welcome to AP Literature and Composition!  I look forward to working with each of you during the 2015 - 2016 school year.  We will be part of the Full Circle Technology program and will have access to technology on a daily basis, so there will be lots of new material and innovative projects and teaching. My contact information can be found below in the Announcement section or on my Profile page.  Have a great school year!

Course Description

Advance Placement Literature and Composition provides students a college-level introduction to literature from the 1500s to the present day.  Texts will include poetry, novels, drama, short stories, and non-fiction from predominately English and American authors, but will include various world authors as well.  The framework for this course will be an intensive review of writing and analytical skills followed by a chronological study of world literature.  Using these texts and questions/themes, students will develop a close reading and careful analysis of fictional works. Successful students will be self-motivated and will be invested in the course material.  The course will be taught seminar style in which students come to class having read the required material beforehand.  Students should also be prepared with questions and comments which will begin daily discussions.

As the AP Exam is considered a part of the course, a great deal of time will be spent preparing students for the exam.  Students will not only receive strategies for the test, but will also be given practice quizzes, exams, and essays on a weekly basis.  Holistic grading and the AP writing rubric will be explored in depth and will be used to assess all in-class, timed essays as well as other writings.

A SchoolFusion Parent Account allows parents to view all of their children’s classroom information in one web location. Parents can check assignments, view important deadlines on FusionPage calendars, follow their children's sports calendars, school events and much more! Once parents have created an account email notifications will be sent when new announcements and assignments are added. Only parents/guardians of students enrolled in Aiken County Public School District are allowed to register.
To create a parent account, you will need the student id# for each student and birthdate. The birthdate should be keyed in with no leading zero or dashes.
